thinking about fury road and how there is no mythical land where everything is okay, and how the path to redemption is returning to the place you already know and making it better as you better yourself. also thinking about le guin’s the dispossessed and “true journey is return” and how the revolution must be constant within us rather than a single act or movement. the citadel is a place of horror and despair but it doesn’t have to be

if elendira is a combination of human and plant and we just saw tesla’s dismembered body, and one of tesla’s eyes is in nai’s knife hand….where’s the other. notice elendira’s different eyes. notice tesla’s eye is blue.
ive been thinking about this bc i thought “why would nai let conrad do human/plant hybrid experiments if he wants to make all plants independents and hates humans” bc it gives tesla a second chance oh i feel sick
OK i know that we’ve all lost our minds over the animation in this scene, BUT can we also talk about the the sound effects/sound mixing??
I jumped when I heard Vash’s gun go off for the first time in this ep. The deep bass was so jarring, which was heightened by the fact that we’re so not used to hearing Vash SHOOT.
And then the way that the music fades as they focus on Vash reloading makes time feel like it’s slowing down and we’re there in the moment with him.
IMO Orange has done an amazing job with this adaptation. The animation has been the focus and rightfully so, but everything else has been incredible as well.
fandom wide mandate that everyone has to re-watch the source material in steady intervals to minimize intense fandomization of tropes and characterizations that happens when people go without new source material for too long

Does anyone have a link to where Nightow mentioned Vash intentionally being representative of the feminine? I’m not denying that it’s possible, it’s just something I’d really love to read up more on, ‘cause if that’s honestly, literally the case, that it’s been something so intrinsic to the story from the very beginning, then it just astounds me that it’s such an important detail that’s been kind of buried amongst all of the flashy shiny explosions and Pervy Vash action that the 98 anime gave us.
There’s also a bit of “Surely a male writer didn’t give us this good of a transmasc-and-feminine rage against our collective trauma story all the way back in 1995, in manga!” I’m just so used to having to find these themes on my own (also like queer media in general from that time period) that my brain is still, despite all the elements of the story proving that’s what it’s been trying to say all along, struggling to believe that we were given such a good series. ;_;
All those years ago, going through college, loving Trigun and having such a blast with the wild shit, and I never knew what was waiting for me in the manga, or how important of a message it had! LKAJDSF UGH I AM STILL ANGRY I WAITED SO LONG TO READ IT! But I also don’t think I would have appreciated it quite as much as I do, now, if I’d read it in the early 2000′s.
idk where he said but these concept art vash’s from sakura-con kinda supports it imo

Vash and Femininity: Trigun Stampede and its Themes of Bodily Autonomy, Exploitation, and Vague Gender Fuckery
alright sit the fuck down. we’re gonna talk about THEMES
I was on Twitter- terrible idea usually, but a couple people I follow made some tweets that got me thinking about Trigun’s overall themes, and here we are. So let’s talk about some themes in Tristamp! And I’ll take a couple looks at Trimax as well, just for fun :3
Let’s look at how the showrunners utilize gender roles and exploitation of feminine characters to show how unhealthy Knives’ obsession with his ideal of Vash is, and how horrific his exploitation of Vash and the Plants is.
stating to think there’s an inverse correlation between how good media is and how easily fandomizable it is 😁
good media should make you stare at wall for 2 hours instead of immediately starting shippings wars and coffeeshop au and slowburn fics
no no you’re not wrong but also
there’s a reason for this.
My personal theory is that if Media is REALLY good, there isn’t really… space, if you will for fans to add or change perspectives on it. Too dense, too complete. Like how coral won’t grow on plastic because it’s too smooth
Whereas some half-baked hot garbage has got ALL KINDS of plot holes, incomplete characterization, warped timelines, missing worldbuilding and other Spaces for fans to colonize, like coral growing on a sunken battleship.
And then if a series just sucks too much, it’s not fun to interact with at all, and people won’t fandomize it because it’s toxic. Like how coral won’t grow on sunken piles of burnt-out tires.
I call this the Fandom Barrier-Reef Theory.
“Profiles are based on the TV series, except for “Creator Comments,” which are Yasuhiro Nightow’s comments on the comics as printed in the Puff magazine interview.”
